This year, my wife and I decided that Amazon’s increased costs, lackluster delivery times, and no same day options were enough for us to try Walmart+. Back in May we decided to end our Amazon subscription of many, many years and go with Walmart+. Up front, it’s honestly so much more worth it for our younger family.
The perks include free delivery on orders a few hours out that includes groceries. So if we run out of cereal and milk, or a more common problem of fruit and coffee creamer, we can have it to our house by dinner time. We also get Paramount+ which was great since we lost Prime Video. And Walmart+ includes the bar scanner so if we are about to run out of dishwasher tablets you can scan the bar code on the packet and order more, something we actually did and made it super convenient. It has Amazon’s shopping lists, your favorite items for repeat groceries, order refills on prescription meds, and even had a feature that “sorta worked” to get school supplies for a specific class list, but we went in-store anyways.
The biggest downside is the third-party sellers are awful, their ship dates are definitely not right, and Walmart is not obvious at all on what is in their stores and what is third-party.
Case-in-point is the campfire grill cover that we bought my dad for Father’s Day. We ordered it with a couple of days to spare based on delivery time but it ended up pushing back a day, then another, and then another. So we cancelled, which was super easy, and bought another from an actual Walmart distributor that was shipped directly to my parents. The original product came and Walmart said to just keep it. So tonight we used it and… Well…

It immediately warped and color distorted. Ended up using aluminum foil to make sure food was cooked and edible so I can count it as a somewhat win but the process was frustrating.
Overall though, I’d highly recommend switching for the grocery option alone.
Here’s a couple of photos from the campfire dinner:
