As a young adult, I did not take the time to look at the issues with voting, only votes for the president, and completely ignored local and state voting. But I also knew that because I didn’t vote, I didn’t have a right to complain.
In the last five years, I’ve made an effort to make myself aware of the issues. Even local candidates, I’m researching what they said, their social media presence, and what they say when they are campaigning. I vote with my head, not my heart.
And let’s me honest, both political parties have very awful components to that and neither party is doing enough within their own group. So don’t be a drone and vote along party lines. Think for yourself, your family, and your community. Improve your political party, and then you can complain about the outcome.
